It combined the best of different kinds of pickups to produce a remarkably versatile sound.

(The Spectrum DX was numbered X140, but instead of being an updated S-S-S, the DX was really an H-H like the X135 with the upgraded hardware of an X189.)From the 1981 pricelist. The standard models have wonderfully resonant figured ash bodies, and the brass nut and hardtail string-though bridge add to the great tone.X140 is one of the few model numbers to be used by two different models- confusingly the number returned to use in 1985 after the Electra Phoenix had been renamed the Westone Spectrum. Save yourself the shipping cost, local pickup is acceptable, Orlando Florida.Wednesday, January 23, 2008, 12:47 PM-Bolt neck double cutaway with ash body, maple neck, black pickguard, chrome hardware, brass nut, brass hardtail bridge with strings through body, and three single coil pickups with 3-way selector and fat switch (middle on), brass knobs.Standard models:X140N (S-S-S)(natural)X140S (S-S-S)(walnut stain)X140B (S-S-S)(black)Custom models had premium tuners, Canadian rock maple bodies:X140W (S-S-S)(white)X140R (S-S-S)(red)X140BL (S-S-S)(blue)The X140 was one of the first Electra Phoenixes to appear in late 1980. Please Note: Shipping within the continental United States only. No stripping to any of the height adjustment or saddle adjustment screws.īody: Clean and polished, some dings here and there which have been touched up as shown in the pictures. The bridge is cleaned and lubricated and working perfectly. Pickups and electronics: Working perfectly, the electrical components have been cleaned and deoxidized.īridge: Original. Working well, the G string tuner turns harder than the others but is fully functional. Currently strung with good condition medium gauge roundwounds, Rotosound if I remember correctly but I’m not 100% sure. Some play wear showing on the side of the neck as shown in the picture.

Some dings here and there as shown in the pictures, cosmetic. No string buzz anywhere at the indicated height. Frets leveled and crowned, show little wear. Straight, truss rod working, not stripped. Neck and frets: Carefully cleaned and polished. The tone as you would expect from the P-bass style pickups, they appear to possibly be Dimarzio but I don’t know for sure, I’m not an expert on Electra but I believe I’ve read that Matsumoku used them on some models, I’m judging from the tone and adjustable pole pieces. Bridge intonation and action set to 2mm string height at the 12th fret with no fret buzz up and down the neck.

Does not include the stand showing in the picture.īottom Line: Unmolested original vintage, very nice player. Does not include a case but I am experienced in packing/shipping guitars for the past 20 years. I’m downsizing, reluctantly letting this go to a good home, I know I’ll regret it later. Made in Japan at the well regarded Matsumoku factory.
